• He was born and grew up in a Northern lovely countryside. There, he leaves his most passionate emotion. Banyan trees at the village gate, cows on filed, children, jyful in village festivals occurred alongside edged of pounds, bushes of bananas. All the Nature in his paitings radiates a great beauty of the country and people of Vietnam.

Born 1943 in Ha Noi, lives and works in Ha Noi

• Self taught artist Began working as illustrator in Viet nam Cartoon Film Factory in 1961. By 1972 he had achieved the position of Cartoon Film Director with Viet nam Television. Today, his painting are characterized by strong contrasting color fields in pure hue and intensity. While deeply rooted in the Asian tradition of painting his works yield a surprisingly modernistic sense of feeling and expression.

  First appeared in early 1998 Pham An Hai captured the viewer's attention and was favourably appreciated. Using abstract language, he is wandering in lots of spaces where now they tell you about the interwoven ties of urban life, now they evoke unending memories of a period of tranquility and desolateness. Each painting is a rhythm, and at the same time, it appears to share feelings with you or induce you to a limpid and serene space. Figures and colour patches, the composition, lines and strokes seem to have no sentiment but actually they urge the viewer to mingle with the breath and that space jointly with him.
  The introduction of Hai's painting now is seen by us as a source of pleasure to welcome the new millennium

Vietnamese Traditional Culture is a lively illustration of the merging of three religions
